Proposals for a Joint Venture Project with the
Ceylon Fisheries Corporation (CFC) for the Establishment and
Operation of Fish Processing & Canning Factories in Sri Lanka
EXPRESSIONS OF INTERESTS
Expressions of Interest are invited from interested Local and International Organization / Institutions to commence a Joint Venture business project with the C.F.C. to establish and operate a fish processing and canning factory in the Head Premises at Mutwal, Colombo 15.
C.F.C. Assets
The Ceylon Fisheries Corporation as a whole is in possession of many valuable fixed and movable assets islandwide, which includes
- Cold Storage and fish processing facilities
- Block ice production plants (Fixed and containerized) Plant and Machineries
- Refrigerated and insulated transport vehicles
- Lands. buildings and circuit bungalows
Equity
The initial equity shareholding of the C.F.C. would include the entire land and manpower resources of the Corporation that are currently available at the location stated above _ and would be separately valued for the purpose of profit sharing. The C.F.C. would also provide a financial equity depending on the proposals submitted for evaluation.
Business Activities
The C.F.C. is currently actively engaged in the following activities;
- Purchase, distribution and marketing of fish
- Provision of Cold Storage, blast freezing and fish processing facilities
- Production of block ice and sales
- Operation of wholesale and retail fish sale outlets island wide
- Production and marketing of value-added fish products as frozen and fresh packeted fish and packeted filleted fish
The C.F.C. has also engaged in deep sea fishing in order to increase its production level.
NOTE OF INTEREST
The C.F.C. was the pioneer in fish canning in Sri Lanka having earlier operated a fish canning factory at Pesalai. C.F.C. has also entered into a joint venture project with a foreign collaborator for the construction and operation of a fish canning factory at Kaduruduwawatte in Galle.
PROJECT
The proposed joint venture project with the C.F.C. would involve the construction of fish canning and processing factory at this location with all required infrastructure, plant and machineries for the required production output as propose by the joint venture partner and its subsequent commercial production.
JOINT VENTURE COMPANY
The successful proposer would be required to enter into an agreement with the C.F.C. in order to register and establish a separate Joint Venture Company which would also have approval from the Board of Investment, Sri Lanka. This Company would be a separate entity from the C.F.C. and its output production would be divided proportionately for export and local market sales.
